Australia’s biggest crowd-farmed feast is growing…

If you’ve shared your harvest at The Great Local Lunch before, you might notice that NSLF is shaking things up a bit in 2021 to present the first-ever ‘Home Cooked Edition’.

This one-of-a-kind celebration of homegrown and local food has only been held in a single central Melbourne location in the past. Now, this year, the Festival’s most anticipated sustainable food event is coming to backyard veggie patches, family kitchens and community gardens all across Victoria, and beyond. The goal is to broaden the reach of this unique event to be able to bring even more growers, gleaners and local producers together at a much bigger virtual table.

The Great Local Lunch: Home Cooked Edition is inspired by the concept of ‘crowd-farming’, which means the entire feast will be grown and harvested by the guests themselves…better known as all of you!

Edible gardeners, intrepid foragers, forward-thinking foodies and everyone in between can register for their free ticket by letting the GLL Team know what they’re growing at home or how else they’re contributing to a more sustainable food system.

On the last day of the Festival, this shared harvest experience will be celebrated as everyone dines together an online sustainable food spectacular, hosted live by the ABC’s Costa Georgiadis. Throughout the event, Costa will ‘virtually visit’ guests’ kitchens and gardens to discover what delicious, seasonal recipes they have created from their bounties. If you’re attending, you can also look forward to an inspiring and informative line-up of talks and demonstrations from other well-known sustainable food personalities, interactive foodie challenges, and chances to win tasty prizes from local producers.
