On Sunday 14 February 2016, the Sustainable Living Festival held the biggest Great Local Lunch yet on the banks of the Yarra River. The lunch brought together over 200 local farmers, backyard growers and foodies who showed their love for local food.
The long lunch table was bursting with seasonal fair, ethical food experts, guerrilla gardeners, weed foragers and other Melbourne food scene movers and shakers.
Our host, Costa Georgiadis of ABC’s Gardening Australia, unearthed gardening, cooking, recipe and sustainability tidbits from the assembled guests.
“Gathering around a table and engaging in conversation, is a simple solution to sustainable living. The Great Local Lunch is about connecting with each other and the source of our food.” Costa said.
