Melbourne doesn’t have a water problem, it has a creativity problem. Once you decide you are going to be part of the solution, it becomes addictively interesting.
In this presentation, we will learn and practice Edward de Bono's Six Hats thinking, and amaze ourselves by thinking up easy new ways to get otherwise wasted water into our gardens. Safely, conveniently, and cleverly. There is no one-size-fits-all solution for greywater use. Inner city houses with their hidden plumbing and concentrated gardens require each owner to be their very own water designer.
Creative thinking skills are learnable, and give us the confidence to be unstoppable in the game of turning waste into wonderland, grey into green. Skills we can then apply to any area of our lives.
*Think up systems that will work while you rest: no more bucketing. *See inspiring examples of almost total greywater recycling, for almost no cost.
*Think up easy ways to stop rainwater running off your property.
* Learn microbe basics, to make sure your new greywater ideas are safe and responsible.
*Think up ways to trick ourselves into actually implementing our ideas. Bring your own water stories (this is an interactive session) and come prepared to get wet!
Cecilia works as an artist, a Permaculture designer & teacher, and a bi-lingual columnist, both in Australia and Japan. Her focus is on ‘intimate permaculture’. It’s about helping each other find ways to use good design, rather than willpower, to do things we cannot yet do. It’s about being observant, positive, in-action, and creating a culture worth sustaining.
She has just returned from a six-month working holiday. In France, she stayed at the castle of the lateral thinking Guru, Edward de Bono. In Copenhagen, she worked translating the Danish Bestseller, “Personal Branding’ ,and in Tokyo, she designed Permaculture platform gardens for the Tokyu Railway Company. In Melbourne, she holds balcony gardening workshops, and runs an inner-city eco-experience house, where international guests with big dreams come and stay to be immersed in a lush, low-waste life. Cecilia’s formal education encompasses Interior Design, Education, and Japanese language. She has travelled the world visiting and studying eco-villages for 15 years. Her dream is to help interesting people create successful, quirky balcony gardens, and convivial share houses, all over the world.
