Ian likes to do it getting around

He:
- walks, cycles or rollerblades to work
- grabs a lift with a friend and car pools to the gym
- catches a train to the footy
- uses a local car share service for weekends away

fact
Ian cycles 10km each way to work instead of driving and saves about $770 in transport costs and 1.3 tonnes of greenhouse pollution each year.

"I am working hard at doing it - recycling food scraps and packaging, saving and collecting water, buying green power, growing organic food and lessening my energy use. I have also set up a blog to record this journey and other people’s as well. Check it out at www.greenfoot.com.au

"I bought a largish plastic tub to stand in when I shower. The water I catch I decant into a bucket and use that to flush the toilet or on the garden. A good trick is to use it in the wash cycle of the machine, which has been hooked up for grey water recycling using the hoses that are available at most department/hardware stores - so you get to use the water to wash yourself, wash your clothes and water the garden.
