Builder, Owner and Consultant: One House and the Environment

Sat 17th | 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Design tent

hosted by | Construction Queen
The owner, the builder and the project manager participate in this panel to review a project they recently worked on together. The challenge was to build a new home with pre-existing planning approvals and no northern access and at the same time achieve a good environmentally sustainable outcome. The result: a 6 star plus home, solar hot water, 9000 litres rainwater for use in the home, unique wall construction (high R levels and air gaps), sealed building fabric, hot water circulating unit, special attention to material use, whole house ventilation system and low toxicity. The need for all three parties to work closely together in a co-operative manner to solve problems was paramount to ensuring that the environmentally sustainable priorities were not compromised. This panel presentation offers the opportunity for the audience to hear about the challenges of building sustainably from three distinct perspectives and to ask questions to the different team members who are sure to have interesting answers.
