Circus Folk stilt walkers each have a (human) masked puppet in tow. Do we sometimes behave like a puppet, are we thinking about the issue? Do we sometimes wear a mask, hide, are we debating the issues? Other roving performers without masks are unicyling and juggling – taking action – making a difference, looking for solutions to the issues.Don’t be a puppet - THINK. Don’t be a face in the crowd – SPEAK. Don’t dilly dally - DO
Circus Folk Inc.
Circus Folk Incorporated was initiated to provide opportunities for budding circus performers and physical theatre artists to share their passion with the wider community and use their skills and creativity to express their messages. Often performers spend a lot of time training or practicing their skills so Circus Folk also wanted to provide opportunities to come together and celebrate. Age is no barrier in circus arts and is a non competitive activity. Social Circus has also become an integral part of many youth programs – worldwide. The cooperation and trust that is involved is an important aspect that has lasting effects. People can participate in circus activities at any level and it has been said that you can be the student one minute and the teacher the next. It's about sharing, and with all things combined, offers a way of lifting self esteem and a healthy way for self expression.
Circus Folk are passionate about promoting circus and physical theatre and providing opportunities for people to participate and experience the benefits and also offer an alternative for those who may not have connected with other sporting or recreational community groups.
Circus Folk provides a base - a network – whether you want to be a performer or are looking for one, want to get together or have a performance idea – Circus Folk will be happy to hear from you.
