Gene Ethics is a network of citizens concerned about the economic, market, environmental, social and ethical impacts of genetic manipulation (GM) technologies, founded in 1988. We promote critical community education, discussion and debate, to have the precautionary principle i.e. better safe than sorry, rigorously applied to all uses of GM.Gene Ethics' supporters keep an eye on all uses of gene technology and promote the sustainable organic alternatives to chemical intensive food and fibre production. We also encourage community participation in GM policy-making processes on topics such as: regulation, monopoly ownership and control of the food supply, proposed release of GM organisms and their products, food labelling, human embryonic stem cell research, Terminator (seed sterilisation) technology, etc.
