Press Release' began by selecting a particular image from within the free commuter newspaper, which, after 6 years of circulation still does not have a recycling system in place.
A pictorial feature on Australasian Gannets featured around 6500 Gannets nests at Cape Kidnappers Bay in New Zealand, inspiring an interception of 6500 copies from the public realm.
The first process was an extraction of the relevant page, the second; hand-cutting out every gannet, and the third being a repeated 'release' performance.
By revealing these processes within the installation, the journey becomes as relevant as the art itself. The work could be seen as a reflection the use of on environmental resources (paper) - which itself signifies the depletion of wildlife habitat - in order to provide the public with comments on wildlife threatened by environmental degradation.
