Gabrielle de Vietri’s work originates in a desire to address common personal, social, and artistic difficulties, problems or issues. Departing from flawed givens, misleading texts, and habitual but unacceptable behaviours, de Vietri attempts to locate solutions, however absurd. Her work is generous and inclusive, at once deeply sincere and humorously cynical. Taking such forms as legal contracts, books and promotional paraphernalia, it questions the difference between creative output and commercial product, and explores the overlapping codes of behaviour in social, professional and legal interactions.
