Stacy & Craig like to do it at home

They...
- insulate their house for heating and cooling
- use natural light
- collect water from the rooftop
- make the switch to accredited GreenPower electricity
- share stuff with neighbours and family
- sun dry clothes and undies

Energy use in homes creates around 20% of Australia's total annual greenhouse gas pollution.

"I get my sustainability rocks off by taking broken goods (like damaged or worn machines) into my workshop, and using them ... If they are not able to be used for their original purpose, I find another use for it, and if that is not possible, I take all the choice parts off of it like: quality brackets, screws, copper wire, interesting mouldings, timber casings, etc. The remainder goes into the kerbside recycling bin unless it can be kept for 'DomCrete' which is where solid, non-toxic bits become the structural components in my concrete recipe, saving me money (less gravel/stones to buy when making concrete)

"I take my own containers when I buy takeaway food, and my own mug for takeaway coffees (Fairtrade of course).

"I've recently got hold of a Home Water Bowser that connects directly from my washing machine and the downpipes from the roof to collect fresh rain water. The system then allows me to hose that water directly to my garden, fill up buckets for plants or to rinse my car down direct from its storage via its pump. Its a great little system and awesome for our low water supplies. I got mine at http://www.sprout.net.au/home_water.html Such a great water saver!!
