FUTURE MELBOURNE - A BOLD, INSPIRATIONAL and SUSTAINABLE CITY

In 2008 the City of Melbourne worked with the community to develop Future Melbourne, a long-term plan for the future direction of all aspects of city life. Developed by the community Future Melbourne has six goals to to achieve the vision to be a bold, inspirational and sustainable city in 2020. These goals are: to build a city for people, a prosperous city, and eco-city. a knowledge city, a creative city, and a connected city.

Future Melbourne established a range of key targets to guide this vision, one of which is the dramatic reduction of community wide greenhouse gas emission. The pathways to achieve this reduction are articulated in Council's Zero Net Emission by 2020, Update 2008.

Alex's presentation explores the link between Future Melbourne, councils strategies, targets and how this interplay enables community action.
