In late 2008 Environment Victoria commissioned the Nous Group to undertake research examining the feasibility of achieving declining greenhouse emissions for Victoria by 2010 and halving the State’s Greenhouse emissions by 2020. This ‘wedges’ research provides a clear picture of how Victoria could halve its emissions by 2020 and details the necessary policies and technologies to achieve such a transformation. This work will be released in November 2008, and then will be used by Environment Victoria to engage with Victorian communities to develop a community plan for slashing greenhouse emissions. In this presentation Mark Wakeham will explain the research findings and map out a process for a community plan to tackle climate change.
