hosted by | Ethical Consumer Group

CDs. Fast Food. Jeans. Basketball shoes. What's not to like about stuff? The stuff we buy keeps us fed, clothed, and entertained. But did you know that everything we buy has an impact on the Earth? How much do you really know about where your food comes from? What about your clothes, CDs, notebooks? What's the hidden connection between your mobile phone and a gorilla in Africa? Come take a closer look at the life story of your everyday stuff, and explore how you can 'be the difference' by 'buying different!'

Please register for this event.
Education Day opens the Festival on Friday 20th February and is open to schools that register. Upon registration, each school chooses their preferred program.

See Education Day page for details on how to register and make this event part of your school's program.

This event has been developed for Secondary school students

Nick Ray
Nick Ray likes chickens, bikes and carrots. He's not too wrapped in supermarkets but finds himself spending a good deal of time in them, often with a group of everyday shoppers, each with their hemp bags and little green 'ethical shopping guides' in hand, wandering the aisles in search of a 'best buy'. When he's not running these 'Shopping with a Conscience' supermarket tours, he busies himself at Green Collect, an inner city social firm who run a recycling collection service.
The Ethical Consumer Guide gives you the low-down on the environmental and social record of companies behind common brand names. Shop at the supermarket with a clear conscience!
