An introduction to the world of permablitzes – edible gardening based backyard blitzes. How can you use permaculture strategies to get the most out of your garden with minimal effort? See some examples of our designs, and before and after shots of some of the 60 odd permablitzes which have occurred around Melbourne. Learn how to get involved in a permablitz, a great way to cut your teeth on home food production and have fun doing it.

Paul Fogarty
Paul Fogarty is a horticulturist and permaculture designer. Paul has a history of working on social justice issues and for the last two years has been key in the permablitz movement as an organiser and teacher. Paul lives in Altona with his girlfriend, chickens, bee hives, tanks, home-grown organic fruit and vegetables, and Rex the resident blue tongue lizard.
Permablitz Melbourne promotes and facilitates one-day backyard makeovers incorporating edible landscaping and permaculture design. These permablitz events include shared food, free educational workshops and good cheer. Anyone is welcome regardless of skill level. The network is based on volunteer reciprocity, such that if you come to three or so events Permablitz Melbourne can help facilitate a blitz at your house, and work with you on design. Our ultimate aim is to make the suburbs edible enough that should food become unaffordable we don't even notice.
