Come, hear and see a winner‚ the transformation of one ordinary 1980’s home into an extraordinary climate change solution; without major renovations or crippling costs. Changing the light bulbs was a no brainer, just one aspect, what was needed was a holistic approach to the home‚ energy and thermal efficiency - and still stay within a limited budget. The home now operates between 19 and 26 degrees all year round; energy costs have reduced by over 76%, and greenhouse gas emissions have been slashed from 22 tonne to less than 1 tonne (with not a single carbon offset in sight)! Further improvements that aim to take this home to zero bill, zero emission will also be outlined. Until now, there is a perception that environmental benefits come at great personal cost and deprivation, or that standards of living must be compromised. This case study proves the exact opposite.
