The Great Disinfectant Debate

Fri 15th February 08 | 2:00pm - 3:00pm

hosted by | Fresh Green Clean

Disinfectants, antibacterial soaps, alcohol hand-gels, disposable sanitiser kitchen wipes and antibacterial impregnated chopping boards - and now even socks? The arsenal used to fight the war on germs has steeply increased its range of late. But is this rise in germ-killers a necessary response to a growing and dangerous bacterial threat to human health, or just a cynical exercise in marketing?

Bridget Gardner, Melbourne’s leading green-clean expert and educator, will use her extensive research to unravel the myths from the facts. This presentation will investigate disinfectants and antibacterials, what they mean, how they work, their limitations and their practical use in the home.

It will then explore alternative and viable methods of reducing potential disease causing bacteria, without attempting to wipe out all other bacteria in the process. The age-old adage ‘cleaning is a process not a product’ has never been more relevant.

If you have become confused and concerned about how to manage a balance between protecting the environment and our health from ‘dangerous chemicals’- while still protecting our families from ‘dangerous germs’, then this presentation is for you.

Bridget Gardner

In early 2001, a cleaning service called Fresh Green Clean was launched in Melbourne. As founding director, Bridget Gardner set herself a challenge - to develop the safest, greenest, easiest and most effective cleaning methods possible. After seven years of persistent research, experimentation and questioning, Bridget is now considered Melbourne’s leading green-clean expert. Bridget currently shares her knowledge through public workshops and training professional cleaners, child and aged care workers.

What sets Bridget’s presentations apart is the way she combines her practical experience with extensive research and a desire to bust as many cleaning and disinfecting myths as possible. Also, FGC is completely independent and this presentation will not try to sell you anything! Finally, Bridget is an entertaining, passionate and dynamic speaker who makes green cleaning sound so much fun you’ll want to rush home and grab the bicarb!

Testimonial: “Bridget’s passion, professionalism, expertise and genuine desire to transmit her knowledge and philosophy are inspirational and mindset changing”. (Carolina Guerra, Sydney.)
