Josh Rawiri is a fresh, original and dynamic solo act which ventures into an exciting range of reggae, blues, soul, acoustic, roots, rock and the 'totally experimental' Josh has mastered a handful of guitars - slide, electric, dobro - and further enriches his music with percussive beats, harmonica and orginal loops. Raised in the Victorian coastal town of Portland, Josh's musical expression is inspired by nature's awe-it's raw beauty and essence drawing forth smooth melodies, deep fluid base lines and strong original structures. In 2006 Josh released a self-funded, 8 track EP, sold at live gigs which spurred him into an array of mini-tour circuits around Victoria, NSW, Tasmania and NZ and has performed with artists such as Ash Grunwald, Josh Pyke, Roger That and Mick Hart. Josh Rawiri is currently excited about his 12 track debut album, 'If You Need Love', which will be released in late February 2009 on a national Album launch tour. The album is deeply intimate and relates directly to a wide range of human experience through its moving lyrics and sweeping range of musical styles. His musical intention is "really about reaching out on a collective level with inspiring messages of human interconnectedness, compassion and global awareness". The launch tour in late September will visit coastal venues, a range of festivals and community events which are available for viewing on his website.
