Defend the Melody is a 5 piece downtempo outfit consisting of soulful female vocals, synth, acoustic and electronic drums, cello piano and beatboxing. Combining elements of classical, hiphop, triphop, and jazz. DTM are currently recording their debut album which is set for release in early 2009. They were featured in 2008 Fringe Festival and have played at numerous venues throughout Melbourne, such as The Evelyn, The esplanade Hotel, Empress of India, Bar Open and heaps of others. Defend the Melody spreads a message of peace and anticorporation throughout their songs. Touching on points such as mass consumption and human greed, the deliver this message with gentle reproach.
