James Henry

Sat 16th February 08 | 2:00pm - 3:00pm
Main stage

James Henry has been playing his original tunes in the pubs and cafes of Melbourne and Sydney regularly since 2002. Usually playing as a solo artist, he occasionally brings his band together and dusts off his electric guitar to rock out. In 2004 he was nominated for the "Most Promising New Talent" award at the aboriginal music awards after completing his debut album "Calm Crazy" with small tour across Australia.

James's more apparent musical influences would have to come from Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles and more recently Elliott Smith, accumulating in a sound comparable to Belle and Sebastian and The Thrills. His songs also vary in mood from the sweetest arpegiated melodies to the heavily strummed high energy rock covering a variety of topics from tongue in cheek ditties to deep sincere laments. James's comfortable casual on stage manner makes it feel as thou it's a fun sing along in a friends living room as he shares stories about many of the the songs he plays. Lovers of songwriters from the 60's and 70's should find themselves having a plesant evening watching James Henry play.
