Music that Rocks our World is an excellent chance for you to hear about the programs and projects from some of Victoria’s most recognised social and environmental organisations, while you enjoy the music of Melbourne’s great musical talent.

Reconciliation Victoria Presents: Brolga Boys

Brolga Boys are an Indigenous band founded in 1996 by original members Russell Smith (Pitjantjatjarra) and Ben James (Yorta Yorta). Gigging around their hometown of Melbourne with tours and festivals both at home and interstate, they highlight supporting their Indigenous heroes - Warumpi Band at The Dreaming Festival 2006 as a personal milestone. They have been a stalwart of the reconciliation scene in Melbourne, playing numerous benefit shows for the cause including the recent Jackie Geia tribute night and the Uncle Kevin Buzzacott fundraiser. Brolga Boys’ repertoire of rock, alternative and soul tunes draws on themes of social justice, Indigenous pride, story telling and imagery based on our great southern land.

Environment Victoria Presents: Direct Influence

Direct Influence are a 6 piece band with huge live presence, slick reggae licks and soulful harmonies sailing on a powerhouse rhythm section. From north to south, Direct Influence are the East Coast music machine delivering deep rooted soulful reggae with a dash of hip hop to the masses, With members hailing from Aotearoa and Australia, Direct Influence encompasses what is unique to the South Pacific, a love for reggae music and a feel for words with meaning. Unyielding musicians, Direct Influence are; Dylan-Vocals (New Zealand) Marcus-Lead Guitar (Bunyip, Australia) Lachie-Bass (Bunyip, Australia) Andrew-Drums (Bunyip, Australia) Jarrah-Keys (Clayton, Australia) Sydney-Sax (Port Cambell, Australia).
 
Mission Australia Presents:

Sanj

Sanj is a singer/songwriter and has been performing her original music since 2000. Sanj was connected to Mission Australia through the Urban Quest Talent Competition organised through Mission Australia's Dandenong Plaza Youth Info Centre in 2004, she was a finalist at the competition with her original song 'Its the Way of the World Today'. Since the competition Sanj has further participated in programs run by the Youth Info Centre and is currently part of the Centres' Youth Action Committee representing young people in the local community. Sanj uses her music to tell stories of the human experience from her own perpective and from those of others.

Three-piece Hip-Hop outfit: MC's, D'Artist and Infamouz, and the seasoned DJ-T. 2-11 strive to express the true art of Hip-Hop while delivering positive messages, in a language that relates to today’s generation. They have performed and appeared at numerous events, concerts and venues all across Melbourne / Victoria. 2-11 have also toured to and performed at various events and locations in New South Wales.
