It is with great pleasure that we announce the opening of applications for presenters at the Sustainable Living Festival 2009.

The Festival is seeking applications that interact with the 2009 theme ‘Sustainability – taking it to the streets’. The event will be held between the 20-22 February 2009 at Federation Square Melbourne.

About the Festival
The Festival is a celebration and showcase of social and ecological sustainability and is produced by the Sustainable Living Foundation, a community-based not-for-profit organisation. At our last event earlier this year, Federation Square management estimated that there were 129,000 visits to the Festival. For more information view the Festival's facts and figures page.

What types of presentations can be submitted?
We encourage a variety of presentation formats including interactive group discussions and larger public forums.

Presentations can cover a wide variety of topics including home, garden, transport, urban design, food & agriculture, health, parenthood, sport, travel, conservation, biodiversity plus many many more!

What are the benefits to presenters?

• A speaking space at Melbourne's highest profile public venue, Federation Square
• A 12 month profile page on the Festival’s website
• An opportunity to present your message campaign to a wide audience and help bring about positive change.
• A presentation time of 50 minutes (extended sessions may occur for special events)

How to apply
• Complete the application form and return it to SLF.
• All fields must be completed for the application to be considered.

What are the guidelines for entry?
The Festival encourages deep creativity, so dare to dream. Presentations will be selected according to:
• Topic’s relevance to SLF sustainable living criteria
• Capacity to inspire and lead participants to adopt sustainable living actions
• Integration of the Festival theme in your presentation (Sustainability – taking it to the streets)
• Ability to engage, empower and include a diverse audience

The Festival encourages you to involve speakers from a diversity of age/cultural/gender backgrounds in your presentation.

How can I help promote the Festival?
To get the sustainable living message out there we need you to be part of the Festival’s promotions. Use your communication networks to spread the word about your presentation at the event. Your word of mouth efforts, magazines, newsletters, online calendars and website promotions are great ways to let your supporters know what you’re doing at the Festival. Please tell us about the publicity tools you plan to use in your application.

What happens next?
• 2nd Round - Applications close 5pm, 21 Nov 2008
• Applicants will be advised of their success or otherwise by 28 November 2008
• Successful applicants will receive an information kit including information such as site allocation, access and parking details.
