The Festival celebrates and showcases Australian creative communities and demonstrates how creativity - through reflection, passionand expression - enriches and sustains human existence.
Over the 3-day festival period, selected works and presentations will be displayed throughout the Federation Square precinct, reaching over120,000 national and international visitors.

The Festival aims to showcase new ideas and original works. Visual art works by individual artists should be recent (not older than 2-3 years) and should not have been shown at previous significant festivals. This does not apply to community arts groups.
Where will the work be displayed?
• Art projects will be assigned to various locations within Federation Square according to suitability, space availability and target audience.
• Site specific work may be shown if the site is available and the location is suitable.
• Selected artists will be contacted to confirm final locations.
What is sustainability, and this year’s theme?
Artists are invited to submit creative works that effectively reflect on this year’s theme: ‘Sustainability - Make it your Sport’. The Festival is a ‘think tank’ that is open to all interpretations of the theme, and a platform that promotes all creative ideas and practices that will help win the race to global sustainability.
