Naresh Giangrande - Focaliser of the TTT Energy Group and co-founder of Transition Town Totnes, Naresh has been involved in designing, running and evolving many of the events and groups that have been at the heart of the enormously successful TTT initiative. He has lived and worked in an eco community, was Managing Director of his own company and has taught meditation.
Sophy Banks - Sophy set up the “Heart and Soul” group in Totnes that focuses on the psychology of change, as well as coordinating the TTT central office and systems. A trainer for over 20 years she has worked as an engineer, information systems consultant and psychotherapist and has considerable experience of voluntary sector and community projects. Naresh and Sophy are visting Melbourne as a part of the Training for Transition World Tour. They will have visited the US, Canada, and NZ, and are in Australia for the month of February delivering training to Australian Transition Initiatives in Eumundi Q’ld, Bowral NSW, and Daylesford Victoria (feb 20-22 ’09).
Castlemaine is an emergent Transition Town. The Castlemaine community, and the Mount Alexander Shire, is well known for its activism on climate change. The Castlemaine Transition initiative builds on the momentum of such work as the Castlemaine 500 project and the Challenge to Change, amongst many others. Castlemaine was also granted the 2008 United Nations Australia World Environment Day Community Award. Castlemaine Community House is a proud supporter of the Castlemaine Transition initiative.
