Take a tour of the new Diggers Club Seed Preservation garden and learn all about the history, importance, and benefits to saving your own seed.
Seeds protect and sustain life. They are a symbol of potential, of optimism, and of what can become. Seeds represent the embodiment of everything that came before, connecting to past generations and to future generations. Through growth and education, this event can empower others to be part of the seed-saving journey.
For over forty years, The Diggers Club has championed the preservation of heirloom seeds. They are committed to preserving open-pollinated, heirloom seed varieties to ensure diversity in edible and ornamental plants and to maintain biological variation.
This event will commence with a guided tour of the Diggers Foundation’s new Seed Preservation garden with the CEO, Tim Sansom, and will then continue the seed journey with a workshop to discover:
What makes heirloom seeds so special
How to sow and grow from seed successfully
Problem-solving the most common seed-growing issues
How to best harvest & preserve your own seed to continue the seed-growing cycle in your own backyard.
