In the pursuit of endless growth, what are the consequences for local communities, Australia’s environment, and for the global race to address climate change? Richie Allen, First Nation advocate from the Ngunnawal community in ACT, will provide a case example of the negative impacts that Australia’s population and urban expansion policies are having on local Indigenous communities. He will be joined by Michael Bayliss, Communications Manager from Sustainable Population Australia.
Richie Allen is a life-long and passionate advocate for the Ngunnawal community in the ACT. He is director of Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (TOAC), which aims to Protect and preserve the interests and further the aspirations of the broader Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Richie is dedicated to Indigenous reconciliation, and regularly runs cultural awareness workshops for people to better understand Ngunnawal culture and connection to land.
