A family-friendly day to learn about growing and designing edible gardens. There will be activities for all ages, from ‘the science of gardening’ to learning how to save seeds and preserve a harvest. Local horticulture, permaculture design, and sustainability experts will be on hand to answer participant questions.
Bring along any excess seeds, seedlings, and garden produce to swap with the neighbours.
The full program will be updated at Permaculture Out West.
The aim of this event is to connect with the earth and each other through homegrown food and an understanding of the ethics and design principles of permaculture.
Proudly supported by Community Bank Seddon, Bendigo Bank.
Permaculture Out West (POW) is a network of people living in the western suburbs of Melbourne, learning, and practicing permaculture. Their members generally live, play or work in the municipalities of Maribyrnong, Hobsons Bay, Moonee Valley, Brimbank, and Wyndham. POW has a vision for nurturing empowered and resilient western suburbs. They want environmental sustainability and self-sufficiency to be facilitated through local initiatives such as food swaps, cooperatives, and working bees. POW wants to bring the resources of the community together; to bring good ideas into fruition through a range of activities, including workshops, permabees, open garden tours, and social events. They can also help facilitate projects and organise people around community issues.
