This mushroom cultivation workshop will get participants on the path to enjoying fresh gourmet mushrooms at home.

Suitable for beginners, or seasoned growers, this is a chance to bump up home mushroom crops, explore new methods, and meet other growers.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will mix up their own 4kg bag of Lion’s Mane mushrooms.

Lion’s Mane is an interesting variety that has many health benefits, including boosting cognitive function, which will no doubt get participants focused for the New Year!

Emma Wasson As a member of the Kensington Stockyard Food Garden, Emma has come to be known as the Mushroom Mama. She is the Founder of Mycelium Futures, a community of fungi enthusiasts and home mushroom cultivators. Emma has built her knowledge on the ecological and medicinal benefits of fungi and explored the growth cycles of a number of varieties of oyster mushrooms and Lions Mane as a DIY enthusiast. Emma’s workshops are educational and practical, and her opportunity to share her joy and enthusiasm for growing mushrooms at home. Website

Liam Beardsmore With his brother Michael, Liam felt inspired to throw themselves into meaningful, hands-on work. As brothers, they had grown up close to seasoned farmers, with relatives in Zimbabwe who are always at the cutting edge of traditional crop farming. Inspired by their family’s innovative and free-thinking lifestyles, Michael and Liam set to merge their dreams of farming with the urban environment of Melbourne. As a co-founder of Melbourne Mushroom Urban Farming, Liam is looking to the future of farming and envisioning how agricultural opportunities can arise in small spaces. Website
