Join host Costa Georgiadis, from ABC’s Gardening Australia, for a unique and free 4-course banquet whose ingredients are all grown, gleaned or foraged by the guests themselves and transformed into a completely original menu by celebrated local chefs.
On Sunday 10 February at the Big Weekend, over 200 local farmers, backyard growers, and eager gleaners will gather on the banks of the Yarra River for a delicious celebration of urban agriculture, native and seasonal ingredients, and sustainable food production.
Tickets cannot be bought, but rather exchanged for fresh produce contributed to the event from guests’ summer harvests. These sustainably sourced ingredients are collected in the lead up to the Lunch then delivered to the talented and creative chef team who will have only 24 hours to conceptualise and craft this gourmet spread.
The Great Local Lunch unites a community of forward-thinking foodies who come together to share in the fruits of their labour, network with the movers and shakers of Melbourne’s local food scene, and exchange ideas about increasing food security, reducing food waste, and disrupting unsustainable food systems.
Grower and Gleaner registrations close 25 January 2019.
There are also 10 free double passes up for grabs on the Festival’s social channels!
Share a #DisruptiveDining photo showing how you’re shaking up traditional food systems and eating more sustainably – entries open through Saturday – 2 February 2019
