Would you like your organisation to go carbon neutral? Would you like to know about emissions linked to Vinnies’ donations? Let’s discuss!
Vinnies Victoria would like to share our journey of how we went carbon neutral – so that others might join us.
In this online panel discussion, Vinnies’ Policy and Research Manager Gavin Dufty will discuss with RMIT corporate governance specialist Professor Nava Subramaniam, Telstra’s Ben Burge, and Deloitte’s Wibishana Rockwood how collaboration with the corporate sector enabled Vinnies Victoria to calculate emissions of our community services under the Climate Active initiative.
Vinnies Victoria believes that limiting our social and environmental impact aligns with our vision to assist struggling Victorians.
So every time people donate to Vinnies Victoria, they can rest assured that emissions from their services – from Soup Vans delivering meals to people experiencing homelessness to their education programs, home visits and vans delivering clothes to their shops – have been accounted for.
The event’s message is that, if a large and complex charitable organisation such as Vinnies Victoria can achieve carbon neutral certification, then others can too. They hope to encourage other not-for-profits and businesses to start their own zero-emissions journey.
They know that it’s not just about buying offsets, but committing to ongoing carbon reduction practices – and they will look at the other work they are doing in this space. The ultimate goal is to not require offsets.
The panelists will discuss some of the opportunities and challenges facing others who wish to go carbon neutral.
This event will be held on Zoom and the link to the webinar will be emailed to participants on the morning of the event.
