Come along and create a ‘Shelter of Care’ using coconuts, bamboo, stones and other organic materials. You will learn effective sculptural techniques to construct your own shelter with sustainable natural materials. At the end, you’ll be able to take your shelter home—and install it indoors or outdoors so it can nurture and protect an imaginary, found or living being or object of your choice!
FACILITATOR
Sarah Metzner is a visual artist and educator who works at TarraWarra Museum of Art as the Learning and Engagement Manager. Sarah brings 30 years of combined expertise in art and learning. She has collaborated with diverse community groups including schools, the health, disability and environmental sectors and First Nations artists and cultural practitioners. Sarah is interested in building awareness around creativity, well-being and sustainable art practices and often resources upcycled and recycled materials in her art programs. In her visual art practice, Sarah explores metaphoric landscapes and forms that reflect and investigate human nature’s emotional, social, psychological and spiritual evolution and transformation.
