Taking a communal approach to home ownership, hear from Karl Fitzgerald, of Prosper Australia, to learn about Community Land Trusts (CLTs) – a vital counter to the commodification of housing in a low interest rate era. For collaborative and alternative forms of business, hear from Antony McMullen on what co-operatives are, how they work, and how the co-operative model could be applied to housing, and other industries in new and different ways. Robyn Donnelly, a coop lawyer, will dive deeper into co-ops, including how they are financed, how to set up a coop and how a group of people can combine their capital to either buy or build housing that they would then inhabit.
