Join this event to hear from local groups about what they are working on and how to get involved.
Discuss Maribyrnong Council’s proposed Climate Action Plan, and what locals can do as community members.
Ask a Community Expert: chat with local groups about what they do, how it relates to the climate emergency, and how to feel more empowered to take action. Come along with queries, like – I want to do something about climate change, but not sure where to start; how can I build bike riding into my life? I want to do more composting but live in an apartment.
This is an opportunity for people to connect with local action/activist groups and learn how to be more environmentally resilient.
There will be volunteers from groups such as Climate Action Maribyrnong; Bike West; Co-West Cohousing Community; XR Westside; Permaculture Out West; Sharing Shed Melbourne; Friends of Kororoit Creek
Climate Action Maribyrnong (CAM) is a network of local residents that are connected through action on climate change. CAM acknowledges we are in a state of climate and ecological emergency and need to act accordingly. They are involved in engaging the local council to declare a climate emergency and enact an action plan. CAM also engages the wider Maribyrnong community to assist with information on the issues and solutions to climate change and help connect people with local actions and groups with the aim to create the social change we need to respond to the climate emergency.
