It’s the start of 2020. Australia is enduring catastrophic disasters – fires, floods, and protests. Victoria has plummeted into state-wide lockdown to combat Covid-19.
However, despite experiencing a global pandemic, students Brandon, Tiffany, Lachlan, and Amy have a bigger issue to worry about …. a group project about Climate Change. Tensions rise as the students’ priorities and learning styles clash, forcing them to reflect on their goals, ambitions, and their place in the world around them.
2020 provided a lot of time for reflection on both ourselves and the world around us. This show aims to get our audiences to reflect on how we move forward after this pandemic and reinforces the sense of urgency felt among youth regarding climate change.
Stephanie Lee is the producer, co-writer, and director of A Zoom Group Project: The Musical. She has just finished her Bachelor of Arts degree at Monash University where she majored in Theatre and Performance. Throughout her time at university, Stephanie participated in a sustainability program where she travelled to Italy to learn about tourism’s impact on the local environment. She believes that art, and particularly theatre is a very powerful art form that is able to affect real change in the world. Thus, this project combines her passion for uplifting the often positive outlook youth have of the world with the want to bring awareness to our need to act on climate change before it is too late.
