During February 2021, Regen.Melbourne will be convening a series of community workshops as part of a ‘Doughnut Economics’ month, every Monday between 1 February and 1 March 2021.
The workshops aim to explore five key foundation themes for a thriving Melbourne. These themes are based on a Melbourne contextualised version of the Doughnut Portrait Methodology, put forward by the Thriving Cities Initiative.
Regen.Melbourne is an emerging collective of organisations and individuals exploring a regenerative recovery and new economy models for a post-COVID Melbourne. The group is led by Small Giants Academy, Circular Economy Victoria, and Coalition of Everyone, and the first project has been supported by Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation and the City of Melbourne.
Workshop 1: A Healthy Melbourne
During this session, we will collectively explore what a healthy Melbourne means to us. How can Melbourne ensure that all citizens have an equal chance of living a healthy life, regardless of their socioeconomic status, or background?
Elements that will be explored in this session include, but not limited to: Housing, Food, Water & Health.
Together we will hear from thought leaders in this space, discuss how we are doing as a City, and uncover barriers and opportunities.
The focus will be on the social benefits of a healthy Melbourne, however, throughout the session, we will also explore the economic and ecological benefits/consequences.
