Markets and market based instruments (MBIs) are increasingly popular tools in environmental regulation across the world. Governments are using them to address problems such as climate change, habitat loss and the reduction of biodiversity.

Join us to hear two leading economists discuss the possibilities and problems of markets and MBIs, in light of the Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission's push to use markets for environmental protection in Victoria.

Speakers:
  • Dr Richard Denniss - The Australia Institute
  • Mr Gary Stoneham - Chief Economist of the Department of Sustainability and Environment

Please note: Mr Stoneham appears in his personal capacity, any views expressed by him do not necessarily represent the views of the Department of Sustainability and Environment. This seminar is held under the Chatham House Rule.

There is no charge for the seminar however donations to support our work are greatly appreciated.
