In the face of growing environmental concern, phrases such as ‘environmentally friendly’, ‘carbon neutral’, and ‘recycled’ are increasingly being used to sell products and services.

This seminar will discuss what rights you as a consumer have when buying ‘environmental’ products and services, what information you can demand and what action you can take over inaccurate or misleading environmental claims.

The seminar will also cover the role of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in the area of environmental claims, and recent investigations undertaken by the ACCC.
    Speakers:
  • Patrick Crouche - Deputy Director, Melbourne Compliance – Australian Competition and Consumer Commission
  • Brendan Sydes - Principal Solicitor – Environment Defenders Office
  • Tom Willcox - Solicitor – Consumer Action Law Centre
