The Climate Emergency Network (CEN) general meeting on September 13 set one of its key campaigns priorities around "no new fossil fuels". Furthermore members involved in the ad-hoc collective that organised the Climate Emergency Rally on July 5 and the Climate Criminals Tour on September 19 have been looking to turn this into an ongoing broad campaigning collective around climate change issue.

As a consequence Philip Sutton and other members of CEN, and the climate rally organising team are putting a call out to form a "No New Fossil Fuels" campaigning collective.

We believe there is a need for an a broad collective that meets regularly to help facilitate, coordinate and strengthen the diverse activities being undertaken by environmental activists and groups around the development, planning and construction of new fossil fuel projects and existing ones.

We can use the opportunity to discuss campaigns around the proposed HRL "Clean Coal" power station, the governments plan to construct two new gas fired power stations, the federal governments push around clean coal and carbon capture and storage, as well as discuss ways to raise awareness about this issue at Walk Against Warming on November 15.

Philip Sutton from CEN and co-author of Climate Code Red, will be in attendance to explain why the CEN feel such a campaign around No New Fossil Fuels is so important.

All welcome.
