Cultures of Sustainability is a transdisciplinary conference organised by the Art and Sustainability Research Cluster and developed in association with a major international art exhibition at RMIT Gallery, Heat: Art and climate change.

Cultures of Sustainability is a forum for critical reflection on contemporary creative cultural forms of production that address the pressing issues of global environmental change and sustainability. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for researchers, artists, designers and writers who work in the field of environment and culture, to come together to discuss the importance of the design of artworks, objects, systems and ideas in generating new knowledge about the social, symbolic and material impacts of climate change.

The conference will include a keynote address from the eminent international scholar Dr. Wendy Wheeler and presentations from key Australian art and design practitioners, academics and writers.
