As part of a two month, 2,400 km tour along Australia’s east coast to champion renewable energy and energy efficiency as solutions to climate change, the Greenpeace ship Esperanza will be in Cairns on the 9th of August for a free public open day. Onboard tours of the Esperanza will be available from 10am-4pm on the day. Registration is essential. Further information on how to register and venue directions will be posted at www.greenpeace.org.au. Phone registrations will also be taken on 1800 815 151 (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm only). The Greenpeace Energy [R]evolution Ship Tour will be highlighting the need for urgent action on climate change. The ship has already visited Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Mackay and Townsville, with Cairns the last stop on the tour. The Open Boat day is a rare opportunity to get onboard Greenpeace’s biggest and fastest ship, best known for its expeditions to the Southern Ocean to confront Japan’s whaling fleet.
