To celebrate this year the Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre is organising a dynamic and rich mix of food, fun, stall and demonstrations, debates, performances, and competitions for kids, to demystify and make sustainable living accessible come and see how you can make a lighter footprint! It is a hot topic in the community and this is the first time we have held our annual festival on this exciting theme. The spring-time festival is considered a highlight of the calendar year for young and old. It attracts an average of four thousand people from local and regional areas. An initiative of the Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre, supported by the City of Boorondara, the Sustainability Expo 2008 is planned to celebrate the essence of our community and to provide a fun and broad source of information on sustainable living. The Sustainability Expo is a community-based, not-for-profit event which is administered by a volunteer committee. It is only made possible by the generous support and donations from sponsors. Current, confirmed, sponsors include the City of Boroondara. As well as showcasing the importance of Sustainable Living, the Sustainability Expo plans to bring together organisations, businesses, industry experts and people with common interests and ideals to share thoughts, ideas and practices. We envision a festival which attracts and embraces all members of the community and which encourages and enthuses them to become more "sustainable". The Expo aims to appeal to all people of all cultural, religious and professional backgrounds and promote a deeper understanding of environmental issues, locally and further a field.
