This project is focused on empowering secondary students in caring for the Yarra catchment and its communities, as well as having opportunities for you to contribute and hear from the students themselves at the Community Forum.
During the program groups of secondary students will conduct their own environmental assessments of different sites throughout the Yarra catchment. They will bring together their results and data from surveying community members. They’ll determine the issues facing the Yarra catchment that are of most concern to them, vision how they’d like things to be in the future, and decide what they are going to do themselves.
They will present all this to you at the Community Forum at 3.30 on Tuesday 20th May at Yarra Yarra Rowing Club Boathouse Drive, Melbourne.
Its a really inspiring experience to hear young people engage fully with their concerns & move to action. The students are in turn inspired & supported by having members of the community come along to listen to them. There are also wonderful opportunities to work with students whose action plans may be related to your own work.
