On Saturday, 19 April 2008, the Yea Shire Hall will host some 25 to 30 local and regional exhibitors presenting their technologies, services and information in the domains of renewable energy and electricity generation, solar water heating, waste management and recycling, sustainable and renewable household products, green building design and insulation, water saving technologies and sewerage systems, water wise gardening, landscaping and drought resistant plants, carbon footprint calculation and carbon offsetting schemes using revegetation and farm forestry. Visitors have the opportunity to personally meet and talk to local and regional providers of sustainable technologies about practical solutions that suit their needs.
Also, throughout the day, a series of expert presentations will further provide you with more hands-on tips:
Brad Shone from the Alterative Technology Association will give an up-date about government rebate schemes for renewable energy installations.
Michael Cox will present a local example of building a sustainable home.
Tony Richardson, Director of TreeSmart Australia, will provide information on how to receive carbon credits for revegetation and farm forestry, and how this fits into the planned national carbon trading scheme.
Rick Lindsay from Earth Structures will talk about the benefits of small, simple, elegant houses.
Cathy Olive, Revegetation links officer from DPI will talk about Hill country management.
Organised as a joint initiative of the Murrindindi Climate Network and the Strath Creek Landcare group, this project is also proudly supported by the Murrindindi Shire Council and the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority.
