Speaker: Professor Mick Dodson

The University of Melbourne Human Rights Forum is hosting a public lecture by Professor Mick Dodson, Director of the National Centre for Indigenous Studies, on the topic of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.

Professor Dodson is a member of the Yawuru peoples, the traditional Aboriginal owners of land and waters in the Broome area of the southern Kimberley region of WA. He is currently Director of the Australian National University’s National Centre for Indigenous Studies. Professor Dodson was Australia’s first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. For over a decade, he has participated in the drafting of the text of the Draft Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples at the United Nations.
