Speaker: Mr Waleed Aly

The International Commission for Jurists, supported by Melbourne Law School, is pleased to announce this lecture presented by Mr Waleed Aly, prominent commentator on Islam-West Relations. Mr Aly will provide an overview of classical Islamic juristic discourses on rebellion and political violence and consider how these might be applied in the modern era to terrorism.  The lecture will also consider the nature of contemporary global terrorism, and the potential counter-terrorism traps facing us.Â
