Speaker: Tom Athanasiou from EcoEquity (www.ecoquity.org)

We know the world must rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions if we are to avoid dangerous climate change. But how can we do this while also facilitating the development of the majority world?

Tom Athanasiou, executive director of EcoEquity and author of several books on poverty and the environment argues that the real climate change challenge is "holding global warming below a catastrophic level while at the same time preserving the right of all people to more than merely bare-bones 'human development.'". Tom will discuss climate change and emissions from an international equity approach.
